The Co-operative Group stands apart from other major retailers in the UK as a business, which is owned, not by a small group of shareholders, but by more than five million consumers. The number of Co-operative stores has rapidly increased over the past ten years – from 650 stores in 2000 to almost 3000 stores today. The Co-operative Group had been using Axway’s AMTrix solution as its EDI platform within Co-operative Food for many years. When it came time to upgrade their AMTrix solution, however, the question arose as to whether it would be more expedient to upgrade or to migrate to Axway B2Bi. “As we continued to grow, it became apparent that we would soon have scalability issues and would need to modernise. It was essential to migrate to Axway B2Bi, both from a technical point of view, and a business point of view,” said Alan Broadhurst, Solutions Manager, Information Systems, The Co-operative Food.
