Axway Solution Adopted by AS2 Community as Standard for Large File Transfer

With AS2 Restart, Organizations Can Securely and Reliably Transfer Payloads of 500MB or Larger

PHOENIX, February 23, 2010 – Demonstrating continued leadership in developing innovative industry standards, Axway’s solution for transferring very large messages (VLM) – called AS2 Restart – has been selected as the solution for transferring payloads of 500MB or larger online. After reviewing several proposals within Drummond Group’s large message exchange test discussion, five AS2 vendors voted and selected Axway’s solution for AS2 Restart, which is expected to become the messaging standard for transferring VLM for the worldwide community of AS2 users.

AS2, co-authored by Axway employees, is a commonly used messaging standard that allows companies to efficiently and securely transport pertinent business data across the Internet. As accessible Internet bandwidth has increased, so has the demand to transfer larger files via AS2. One significant barrier to transferring very large payloads has to do with recovering from a mid-transfer connection failure; until now, the entire message had to be resent. With AS2 Restart, the transmission automatically “restarts” and picks up the transfer where it had stopped. In addition to guaranteeing that the data is reliably transferred, AS2 Restart ensures the efficient usage of server resources during the transfer process.
