Axway Secures Email for Wolverhampton City PCT

LONDON – Axway, the leading global provider of multi-enterprise solutions and infrastructure, today announced that Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust (PCT) has implemented Axway's Secure Messenger solution, to enforce secure, encrypted inbound and outbound email communications for all users based at more than 100 remote sites.

Wolverhampton City PCT's existing email system had security limitations, leading to the significant risk that patient information and other confidential or sensitive documents would not be protected when in motion. As various email systems were in use across the PCT's remote locations, there was no guaranteed security level for outgoing and incoming emails. The PCT was looking for a solution that could automatically encrypt and authenticate all email streams and enable them to protect, manage and report on all email traffic flowing in and out of the organisation. The PCT selected Axway Secure Messenger as the most secure, easy-to-use and easy-to-deploy solution.

Using Secure Messenger's multiple secure message delivery capabilities, the PCT has been able to define enterprise-wide security policies. Even though PCT users may choose not to encrypt communications that do not contain sensitive information, Secure Messenger's content filtering engine inspects all outbound email at the network gateway, and any content in violation of the policies is redirected to a secure channel for further action. This enforced enterprise messaging security policy for all internal and external users means that employees and the IT team no longer have to spend valuable time managing email security.

The solution can be easily deployed to any user with a browser and email client. All users, via laptops or desktops, can use the encryption tools regardless of the email client, and can send any document with attachments up to 200MB without risk. Larger documents can be sent directly from a Web interface with the same capabilities. All emails can be sent with tracking ability to ensure secure delivery of sensitive information.

Wolverhampton City PCT email recipients use secure, online Web delivery with a standard browser. Secure Webmail allows them to receive, read, reply to, and locally save secure messages — without any additional software beyond their usual browsers and email clients. When recipients receive PCT-encrypted emails, there is a Web link embedded in an email to route them back to a secure server to read the message over a Web browser. They can access their email, send, sort, search, delete and save messages from anywhere on the Internet.

Offline push delivery using a Web browser (Secure Envelope) delivers an encrypted message directly to the recipient's email inbox. Secure Envelope includes the encrypted content in an HTML attachment, which is opened by the recipient using a browser and decrypted with a password.

With Secure Messenger's encryption and email tracking capabilities, the IT team can now dedicate less time and fewer resources to day-to-day operations and maintenance.
