Prudential Deploys the Tumbleweed Email Firewall to Fight Spam and Viruses

Tumbleweed's Dynamic Anti-Spam Service Enables Prudential to Detect over 35% Spam Emails Per Day

Redwood City, CA – June 8, 2004 – Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:TMWD - News), a leading provider of secure Internet messaging software and hardware for enterprises and government agencies, announced today that Prudential has implemented the Tumbleweed Email Firewall(TM) and Dynamic Anti-spam Service(TM) to fight spam, detect and kill computer viruses, and secure its corporate email communications. Since the implementation, Tumbleweed's solution has successfully identified more than 35% of emails per day as spam on average, and is catching more than 3000 viruses a day before they enter the Prudential networks.

Prudential is a leading life and pensions provider in the UK, with 7,400 employees and 7 locations internationally. The company was already using a combination of solutions to protect itself from spam including Realtime Blackhole Lists (RBLs). To boost the company's protection, Prudential implemented Tumbleweed's Email Firewall and Dynamic Anti-spam Service. Figures from Tumbleweed show that Prudential is currently receiving around 40,000 emails a day with the Tumbleweed Email Firewall identifying and blocking around 14,500 spam emails on a daily basis.
