Tumbleweed's Secure CRM Provides Secure Delivery Channel for CRM Applications that Use Email Communications

Security Solution Increases Customer Trust For Customer Relationship Management

REDWOOD CITY, CA - January 22, 2002 - Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:TMWD), a leading provider of secure content management solutions for enabling the business Internet, introduced today Tumbleweed Secure CRM, a software solution that allows customers to secure and track email communications generated by a CRM application. Secure CRM empowers organizations to build trust with their customers by securing customer service email messages that contain sensitive account or transaction information that should be treated confidentially. The solution also tracks various stages of the delivery, notification and download process to ensure that customers receive their business-critical email messages in a timely manner.

"Corporate customers who take advantage of the convenience of online communications are asking for robust security solutions that leverage their current CRM application," said Michele Wrath, Vice President of Product Marketing at Tumbleweed. "Secure CRM is the ideal solution because it automatically determines whether or not a message being sent from a CRM application contains confidential information about the customer and then redirects that message to a secure email delivery channel. In addition, Secure CRM allows enterprises to offer a secure online inbox that allows their customers to view all of their confidential customer service communications and send private email responses or questions back to customer service agents."

Secure CRM Gives Companies Increased Level of Confidence
A recent study by eWeek indicated that security was the top concern for 98% of top eBusiness innovator companies in the U.S. as they use Internet-based technologies for their business processes. Secure CRM email provides a secure online channel for sensitive customer service communications, enabling corporations to continue to leverage the Internet without compromising customer confidentiality. It sits at the gateway of the enterprise and includes the Tumbleweed Secure Policy Gateway that scans the content, identifies and redirects Internet email messages (SMTP messages) originating from a CRM application to an SSL-based secure delivery channel. Because the solution resides at the gateway, all email traffic can be automatically monitored and re-directed to the secured channel without having CRM users within the organization change their work behavior.

Added trust for online communications for both the sender and recipient produces better customer relations and more efficient business practices. In addition to increasing customer satisfaction and building customer trust, Secure CRM also fulfills many government requirements and regulations for handling and securing Internet communications, particularly in the financial services and healthcare sectors.

Pricing and Availability
Tumbleweed Secure CRM is immediately available worldwide. Pricing is based on the number of CPUs needed on the Windows NT platform where the gateway resides. This pricing model allows businesses of all sizes to easily increase their usage as their business and customer adoption increase. Base pricing starts at $80,000 per CPU.
