Tumbleweed Communications Appoints Bill Pollak Senior Vice President, Sales
Long-time PeopleSoft executive to lead world-class sales organization
REDWOOD CITY, CA - November 12, 2001 - Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:TMWD),a leading provider of secure content management solutions for enabling the business Internet, today announced the appointment of William E. Pollak as Senior Vice President, Sales.

Pollak brings to Tumbleweed a distinguished track record of successful sales management in the enterprise software sector. He has rapidly built highly productive sales organizations that have brought emerging technologies to the marketplace and has received numerous awards for individual sales performance and for sales leadership. His career includes experience in both early-stage and established field organizations, including a ten-year stint at PeopleSoft from 1989 to 1999.
While at PeopleSoft, Pollak - who was one of the first two sales executives hired in the company - held numerous senior sales management assignments and exceeded his annual revenue objectives during every year he was with the company. He was the Vice President and General Manager of the Service Industries Business Unit. Under his leadership, Pollak's business unit established itself as the dominant provider of ERP applications to service sector enterprises and was consistently among the top performing business units in the company growing from $20 million to $150 million in under three years.
Prior to assuming responsibility for the Service Industries Business Unit, Pollak was the Vice President of Western Region HRMS Sales. His sales organization consistently ranked among the top performing sales units in the company, acquired many of PeopleSoft's most strategic accounts in the Western U.S., and successfully drove sales of some of the largest enterprise software licenses in the company.
Pollak's management experience also includes a tenure as Vice President of Sales and Field Operations at AristaSoft Corporation, which established itself as the leading Application Service Provider (ASP) for High Tech Manufacturing enterprises. Pollak joined AristaSoft as a founding member of its senior management team and drove revenues from zero to $16 million in less than two years. During this time, Pollak built a 40-person organization consisting of sales, pre-sales, account management and professional services.
In addition to his experience at PeopleSoft and AristaSoft, Pollak has also led sales organizations in other enterprise software companies, including Radford Associates/ Alexander & Alexander, and at Personify Inc. He earned at Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Davis.
