Christopher Greendale Joins Tumbleweed Board of Directors

REDWOOD CITY, CA - August 17, 2001 - The Board of Directors of Tumbleweed Communications Corp (NASDAQ:TMWD), a leading provider of secure content management solutions for enabling the business Internet, announced today that Christopher H. Greendale, Chairman of Metatomix, Inc. has been elected to serve on Tumbleweed's Board of Directors.

Greendale brings a great depth of experience in the software and consulting industry to Tumbleweed. He was co-founder of Cambridge Technology Partners, a strategic and management consulting company that provides eBusiness systems integration services. At Cambridge, Greendale served as head of sales and marketing for over six years and grew the company to over $600 million in annual revenues. Cambridge was recently acquired by Novell, Inc.
