Tumbleweed Announces Messaging Management System
New allowance the fifth patent for Tumbleweed
REDWOOD CITY, CA - April 5, 2000 - Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (Nasdaq:TMWD), a leading provider of secure Internet communications services, today announced Messaging Management System, (MMS), a set of email management products and services that enables businesses to protect valuable corporate information on the Internet.
"At any given point in time, important elements of an enterprise's business information - its intellectual capital - are flowing over the Internet in email messages," said Jeffrey C. Smith, president and CEO, Tumbleweed Communications Corp. "Our customers see an urgent need to manage and better monitor this communications process. Tumbleweed MMS leverages existing groupware investments by enabling a company to centrally create policies to manage and control Internet communication without diminishing its effectiveness as a business tool."
"The constant flow of unstructured online communications that desktop and mobile devices are generating is a significant challenge to enterprises," said Darcy Fowkes, Aberdeen Group. "For a business to manage this vital communications channel without slowing its growth requires a comprehensive, non-invasive management solution. Tumbleweed MMS is the industry's first successful management system that addresses an enterprise's full range of management needs while remaining transparent to end users."
Tumbleweed MMS enables businesses to set and enforce policies for security, archiving, distribution, monitoring and regulatory compliance related to Internet email. Using MMS, companies can set policies to apply content control, encryption, access control, attachment management, virus scanning and digital signature policies that are administered centrally and universally across an enterprise.
MMS can also enable centralized control over communications security policies by automatically re-routing email traffic that should be sent securely to Tumbleweed Integrated Messaging Exchange (IME). IME is a set of products and services that leverage the Internet and existing email to enable secure, trackable online communication. The integrated MMS/IME solution automatically redirects sensitive traffic to Tumbleweed IME - no end user action is required to send a groupware-generated message securely over the Internet.
Tumbleweed MMS is available in a Standard Edition and an Enterprise Edition. Tumbleweed MMS includes the technologies formerly known as WorldSecure/Mail as well as new features and products.
